The climb to the heights of consciousness is not without risks. The farther intelligence allows one to see, the less breathable the air becomes. Emerging from animality, escaping the occult bonds of brute existence, man individualizes himself but, at the same time, isolates himself.
Solitude and alienation are experienced as a necessary response to the call intimated by one’s own inner Truth. Hence, the need to return to the sources of Life; hence the existential questions; hence, the aspiration to descend into the darkness of the Soul, to the Heart of the Sacred.
With initiation, understood as a revelation of the Divine, man sacrifices his own individuality, but by losing this envelope that isolates him from the World, he becomes capable of perceiving the sublime Unity of the Universe and merges with the Divine itself.
After having being touched by the Mystery, man truly becomes something else.
