Every human being who experiences incarnation on earth carries within himself the seeds of the two worlds, the terrestrial and the celestial. For this reason, we can say that he is potentially both an animal, albeit cleaned up in a suit and tie, and a divinity.

Man cannot separate himself from either natures, but he can work with them in order to harmonize them and emancipate himself. Only when the necessary awareness of this esoteric truth is developed does one possess the key to open the door to true existence.

As we know, this dual nature is made up of Personality and Essence. The first, egocentric and demanding to the point of cruelty, is versatile, inconstant, ungrateful and therefore unreliable. Until this animal nature is perfected, it modifies its sensations, language and conduct according to its own demands and interests; it uses beings and things solely for its own survival and personal gain; a parasite and a competitive monster cloud the true spiritual function of this nature.

Essence, on the other hand, refers to the indivisible character of the Human Being, to his pure, simple and sincere essence, without which He cannot be. Essence is the true Self, it is the sense of identity and ethics in man, and it participates in the awareness of Being by representing its essential in all manifest experiences.

Although the incarnate Spirit, Essence, both intelligible and invisible, it remains fully real as the most tangible Reality, although man verifies its existence only when he is awakened, active, that is, when in the practice of the Work is Present to what is.
