Being born into a a world built and regulated by those who preceded us, we quickly and by necessity come to accept its conditions, its goals, and to consider it as the only possible one. Every society makes its members accept a certain structure of its model, and in an almost subliminal way instructs them in rules conformed to morality and norms regulated by a biased or non-existent ethics.

Since childhood, our minds are conditioned to a fixed and unquestionable vision of the world. Every member of society, looking at what surrounds him, finds that the same reality is endorsed by everyone, and to be integrated he too must keep “his feet on the ground” and adapt. However, this “earth” is not at all solid as he has been taught, nor – as he very naively believes – is it the only possible one. Every social paradigm is supported by cultural traditionalism and moral convictions inculcated in the majority of the crowds who, unable to escape the vicious circle in which they are imprisoned, unconsciously feed them.

Our beliefs, our tastes and our actions are the result of external influences to which we automatically give in in order to be accepted, for fear of not being seen as “normal”. It is not really us who live in the world, but it is this type of world that lives through us. We are constantly pushed to accept (or worse, to value) our condition as “social cogs” and not to be “pessimistic” or critical of the system in which we live; supine, we are victims of our own ignorance.

And yet, there are many who feel the oppressive sensation of being trapped in a “reality” to which they cannot make sense; more and more individuals feel deep down that existential anguish that, misunderstood, leads many to nihilism, depression or the search for “artificial paradises” made of spirituality tout court, abuse of all kinds or psychoactive substances. Running away from one’s responsibilities, numbing oneself or hiding one’s head in the sand has never offered a solution.

The only way to escape from this psychophysical prison is to awaken your true Essence, to start listening to the true inner voice again and to find the courage to follow it. Only when the hamster gets off the wheel does realize to be in a cage, and then it must choose whether to stay still, in a cage, or move but no longer spinning on a wheel.

Daring is Rejoicing, seeing is believing.
